Sri Lanka President Visits Military Air Crash Site

Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited the site where two Kfir aircraft crashed in Warana, Gampaha.

According to Sri Lanka Air Force sources, the two aircraft collided while rehearsing a fly pass for the Air Force Anniversary events.

Squadron Leader Vajira Jayakody had survived while Flight Lieutenant Monath Perera has died from the Kfir crash, SLAF sources said.

Air Force spokesman Wing Commander Andrew Wijesuriya said that serious injury to civilians has not been reported.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Air Force has deployed helicopters in order to transport the injured from the area of the collision. Ambulances have also been sent to the site.
