Hindus Laud Washington’s Museum Of Glass For Exhibition Based On Hindu Themes

Hindus have applauded Museum of Glass in Tacoma (Washington, USA) for organizing about nine-month long world-class exhibition based on interpretations of aspects of Hindu beliefs and cosmology.

Titled “Scapes” and created by Italian siblings and respected international artists Laura de Santillana and Alessandro Diaz de Santillana in collaboration with the Museum, it will be up till January next. It also displays sculpted forms representing linga symbols from Hinduism.

Commending Museum of Glass for showcasing Hinduism themed exhibition, Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that art had a long and rich tradition in Hinduism and ancient Sanskrit literature talked about religious paintings of deities on wood or cloth.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, urged major museums of the world to frequently organize Hindu art focused exhibitions, thus sharing the rich Hindu art heritage with the rest of the world.

All the work of “Scapes” exhibition, which fills four rooms of the Museum, was reportedly produced entirely at the Museum’s Hot Shop. World’s largest aerospace company Boeing is one of the sponsors.

Designed by acclaimed Canadian architect Arthur Erickson, $48 million and 75,000-square-foot Museum of Glass whose tagline is “ALL GLASS. ALL THE TIME.” and which includes a tilted 90-foot-tall cone, opened in 2002. A 500-foot pedestrian Bridge of Glass connects it to downtown Tacoma. Susan Warner is the Director/Curator.
