Spain Welcomes Agreement On Argentine Debt

Spain on Thursday welcomed the signing of an agreement between the Government of Argentina and various creditors to settle its sovereign debt payments, and said it hopes that its definitive application can be achieved in the near future.

The signing of the agreement is an important step in restoring the country’s position in the global financial markets and in increasing the confidence of economic agents, the Spanish government said.

“​The Government of Spain reiterates its support for the work of the Government of Argentina aimed at ensuring macro-economic stability and stimulating growth. In this regard, Spain expresses its firm intention to step up the already intense relations between our two countries in this new era,” the Spanish government said in a statement.
