Georgia: PM Warns Public Officials Against Electoral Wrongdoings

By

PM Nika Gilauri warned public officials to stay fully in line with election code and not to abuse administrative resources ahead of the May 30 local elections.

“Over 400 international observers will arrive in Georgia to monitor the election process. I want to categorically warn and also request the persons working in public sector to observe the election code because, along with other things, its [violation] is punished by law,” PM Gilauri said while speaking at a government session in Rustavi.

“It is very important that no administrative resources are used during these elections. We should prove to the world as much as possible that Georgia will never turn away from the democratic patch, which it has chosen.”

“Therefore, I warn all public officials once again, I ask them once again to observe all those rules and laws, which are envisaged by the election code,” PM said.
