Vatican Could Announce Mother Teresa’s Canonization Date March 15

Pope Francis will preside over a consistory on March 15 to approve the canonization of five men and women, including Blessed Teresa of Kolkata, the Vatican announced on Monday.

According to the Vatican, Pope Francis will preside at the celebration of Terce and the Public Ordinary Consistory for the Canonisation of Blesseds: José Luis Sánchez del Río, Mexico; Stanislaus of Jesus and Mary (né Jan Papczynski), Poland; José Gabriel del Rosario Brochero, Argentina; Maria Elizabeth Hesselblad, Sweden; and Mother Teresa of Calcutta (née Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu).

It is widely expected that Pope Francis will announce that Blessed Teresa’s canonization will be held on September 4, a date celebrates the Jubilee of Workers and Volunteers of Mercy and comes the day before the 19th anniversary of her death, Sept. 5, 1997.
