Pakistani court extends US diplomat’s physical remand

A Pakistani court on Friday further extended the physical remand of American diplomat, Raymond Davis, accused of double-murder, as the US reportedly cancelled all bilateral contacts with Pakistan for not immediately releasing the diplomat.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) extended the physical remand of Raymond Davis for fourteen more days after it was expired Friday.

The second extension has come as the status of Raymond Davis has been established as a contractor, who was on business visa in Pakistan; whereas, the US is insisting that Davis is a diplomat and enjoys diplomatic immunity.

The US has reportedly cancelled all bilateral contacts with Pakistan for not releasing Davis.

The government has come under immense public pressure over the issue.

The widower, of one of the killed persons, committed suicide earlier this week upon hearing unconfirmed reports that the government is releasing Davis.

Raymound Davis shot dead two motorcyclists and another person was killed after being hit by another vehicle that came to help him flee in eastern Lahore city.
