Majority Of Egyptians Want Mubarak Execution – Survey

Some 67 percent of Egyptians who took part in a voluntary online poll earlier this month support the death penalty for ex-President Hosni Mubarak.

22 percent oppose his execution.

The opinion poll was conducted by the British “You Gov” agency. The support rises among young people for up to 77% in the age group of 18 to 24, and 70% among those aged between 25 and 29 years, according to the results of the poll which included in 1012 Egyptians.

It was carried out between the 5th and 7th of August.

48 percent of respondents said that Mubarak was “a dictat6or”, and 46% considered him “corrupt”. According to the poll, 40% described the toppled leader as “an ally of the West.” Meanwhile, 61% of respondents conveyed that Mubarak exaggerated his health condition to gain sympathy of the people.

Almost half of those polled support a strong role for the military in Egyptian politics, even after the creation of a new constitution.
