Iran Media Calls For Revenge Against Israel After Assassination Of Scientist

By

Some parts of the Iranian media on Thursday called to take revenge against Israel after the assassination of an Iranian nuclear scientist yesterday.

The leadership in Tehran accused Israel and the United States of being involved in the assassination of Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan.

In an editorial on Kayhan daily, it was written that Iran could assassinate political leaders and military officials of the enemy. The newspaper claimed that the international law allows the revenge for the assassinations. Another newspaper – Resalat – wrote that revenge is the only way to end the enemies plots on the Iranian territories.

On its part, the U.S. administration stressed that it had nothing to do with acts of violence in Iran. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told reporters in Washington: “I reject categorically accusations about a possible U.S. involvement in any kind of violent actions inside Iran.”

The Iranian Atomic Energy Agency announced Roshan was “one of the servants of the nuclear industry”, without specifying his exact position. “The people of Iran’s chosen path of no return, and such devilish acts of the United States and Israel against our scientists will not have the slightest influence,” it said in a statement.

Government and parliament in Tehran condemned the attack and blamed”imperialist powers” – namely Israel and the U.S. for being involved. “The enemies of Iran should know that they will not stop the scientific progress of Iran with such terrorist acts,” said Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi. “The agents of the imperialist powers were involved in this murder.”
