Iran: Ammunition Depot Blast Death Toll Rises To 27, Wounded 16

The death toll from an explosion at an ammunition depot in western Tehran has risen to 27 on Saturday while 16 people were injured, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRG) said.

Head of Public Relations Department Brigadier General Ramazan Sharif said 27 IRG personnel were killed in the explosion at IRG’s ammunition depot in Malard in Alborz province, while 16 were injured, some critical.

Sharif was quoted by Iranian media as attributing the explosion to the relocation of ammunition and explosives.

He said the explosion was being investigated.
