Libya: NATO Has Now Conducted 2191 Sorties And 890 Strike Sorties

Since  NATO began its Operation Unified Protector on March 31 a total of 2191 sorties and 890 strike sorties have been conducted. Strike sorties are intended to identify and engage appropriate targets, but do not necessarily deploy munitions each time, according to NATO.

NATO said that on April 13 there were 153 sorties and there were 58 strike sorties conducted.

Additionally, NATO said that on April 13 attacks were made on thirteen bunkers, one tank and one amoured personnel carrier was destroyed in the vicinity of Tripoli.

Three multiple rocket launchers were destroyed in the vicinity of Brega, NATO added.

A total of 18 ships under NATO command are actively patrolling the Central Mediterranean, and 18 Vessels were hailed on April 12 to determine destination and cargo, NATO said, adding that 3 boardings was conducted.

A total of 316 vessels have been hailed and 9 boardings has been conducted since the beginning of arms embargo operations, according to NATO.

Additionally, NATO said there have been a total of 57 humanitarian novements in air, ground and maritime, with ships delivering humanitarian assistance April 13 being 2 executed and 7 currently underway.

There were two aircraft delivering humanitarian assistance on April 13, NATO said.
