Croatia To Join EU In 2013

EU permanent ambassadors Wednesday reached an agreement on the text of the Accession Treaty with Croatia, said a statement by the EU Presidency currently held by Poland.
Croatia applied for the EU membership in 2003. EU membership negotiations began in October 2005 and finished on 30 June 2011.
Today’s decision will be followed by the opinion of the European Commission and consent of the European Parliament and final decision of the EU Council.
The Accession Treaty will be signed in December 2011. Croatia will join the European Union on 1 July 2013 after the ratification process being concluded in all 27 EU Member States and Croatia, added the statement.
