(KUNA) — Pakistan Tuesday paid tribute to Richard Holbrooke by reiterating its resolve to root out extremism and usher in peace and stability.

The best tribute to him is to reiterate our resolve to root out extremism and usher in peace and stability, said President Asif Ali Zardari in his condolence message.

The President Asif Ali Zardari condoled the death of Holbrooke and described him as a friend of Pakistan and a personal friend of former Prime Minister and Benazir Bhutto and himself.

He was an accomplished and experienced diplomat who quickly gained the confidence of his interlocutors, said the President.

Holbrooke was a key player in international diplomacy to bring peace to Bosnia and in confronting militancy in our part of the world, he said, adding, his services will be long remembered.
