Iraq: VP Bodyguards Indicted For 150 Terrorist Counts

The Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq on Thursday indicted the bodyguards of Vice-President Tareq Al-Hashimi for involvement in 150 terrorist operations across the country over the past few years.

The Council spokesperson Abdul-Sattar Bayrkdar said, in a press conference, that the bodyguards confessed to the investigating body of perpetrating the 150 terrorist acts, including car bombings, improvised explosive devices attacks, missile attacks, and assassination of security elements, politicians and doctors.

Meanwhile, one of the (the Special Investigation Commission) judges revealed during the conference, that he received threats from Al-Hashimi blaming him of the responsibility of being exposed to any target in the future.

Judge Saad Al-Lami said that Al-Hashimi and his office staff are planning to target him personally or his family members, citing Al-Hashemi statements that were launched via satellite stations, where he said “the judge is bad and must be held accountable.”
