NW Pakistan Bus Blast Kills At Least 18

A powerful bomb blast Monday in northwest Pakistan killed at least 18 people in two vehicles and wounded more than 10 others.
Authorities say the explosion occurred near the town of Hangu in the Kohat agency, which is part of Pakistan’s tribal belt.
Hangu police chief Abdul Rashid said the bomb which completely destroyed a minibus, killing everyone on board as well as two passengers in the second car, was especially deadly because it detonated the vehicle’s gas cylinder.
He said the bomb contained about 10 kilograms of explosives.
The French news agency AFP quoted police officials as saying the target the the attack was a Shi’ite leader, Kamil Ali Shah, who was implicated in the deaths of four Sunni Muslims in Hangu last September.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
