Tillerson Says Rohani Needs To Dismantle Iran’s Terrorist Network

US State Secretary Rex Tillerson said now that Iranian President Hassan Rohani has won a second presidential term he should his new term to dismantle the country’s financing of the terrorist network, as well as the “dismantling of the manning and the logistics and everything that they provide to these destabilizing forces that exist in this region.”

Rohani handily beat his main challenger, the conservative ex-prosecutor Ebrahim Raisi in Saturday’s elections.

Tillerson said that while he was not going to comment on his expectation for Rohani’s presidency, he did say that the US hopes that Rohani puts an end to Iran’s ballistic missile testing.

“We also hope that he restores the rights of Iranians to freedom of speech, to freedom of organization, so that Iranians can live the life that they deserve,” Tillerson said.

Tillerson said that if Rouhani wanted to change Iran’s relationship with the rest of the world, “those are the things he could do.”
