Former Egyptian VP Suleiman Escapes Assassination Attempt
Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit said that the country’s former Vice President Omar Suleiman has survived a failed assassination attempt, reports the Qatari national news service QNA.
Aboul Gheit made the announcement while speaking to Egyptian broadcasting channel Al Hayat, although he did not state when the assassination attempt had taken place, according to QNA.
While the details of the assassination attempt are scarce, QNA said that one of Suleiman’s guards was killed.
Another of Suleiman’s guards, as well as his driver, was injured in the assassination attempt, according to the QNA report.
