Yemen: Three Wounded In Clash Between Army, Republican Guard

New clashes were reported Thursday between the Yemeni army and Republican Guard which is loyal to President Ali Abdullah Saleh. The clashes took place in the province of Hadhramaut, south-east of Yemen. At least three soldiers were wounded. The firefight took place in the city of Mukalla.

A medical source at Ibn Sina hospital confirmed its staff treated three wounded troops, including two from the Republican Guard and a colonel from the army.” On Tuesday, there were reports on the first clashes between the army and the Republican Guard. Two soldiers were killed in these clashes.

A senior army officer, Major General Ali Muhsin al-Ahmar, has announced he joined the protesters who call to the departure of Saleh.
