India: Protestant Assemblies Of God Pastor Beaten, Injured

By

An Assemblies of God minister was attacked and brutally beaten by a mob of about 25 Hindu extremists in the village of Sabli, in Rajasthan, India, said a coalition group of Indian Christians.

The Rev. Sumati Prakash Kharadia is currently hospitalized with injuries and fractures.

The “brutal attack” on Kharadia occurred March 20, a month after Christians were beaten in Rajasthan’s Churu district on charges of proselytizing, said Sajan K. George, president of the Global Council of Indian Christians, reported the Vatican news agency Fides.

George said groups of Hindu extremists have been targeting Christians on charges of operating fraudulent conversions.

“The Indian Constitution guarantees religious freedom and we ask the government to enforce it,” he said.
