Major Scandal As 35 Lbs Cocaine Seized At UN Headquarters

By

U.S. policemen seized last week 16 kilograms (35.2 lbs) of cocaine at the mail intake center of the UN headquarters in New York, world media agencies reported on Friday.

Paul Browne, NYPD’s chief spokesman, said UN security staff called the police on January 16 to inspect a suspicious white bag, which had a poorly copied version of the UN logo on it, NBC New York reported.

The bag had no name or the address and the shipment was sent from Mexico City via Cincinnati. Policemen confirmed that the substance inside the bag was cocaine.

The Guardian quoted Gregory Starr, the UN undersecretary general for safety and security, as saying that “there is nothing to indicate that this had anything to do with anybody at the United Nations.”
