Spain Condemns Violent Incidents In Macedonia

The Government of Spain has condemned the serious violent incidents that took place in the Parliament of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and said it strongly opposes the attacks on certain MPs, and called for calm to be maintained and for any further acts of violence to be avoided​.

The Government of Spain called for responsibility from the authorities in maintaining public order within the framework established by the constitution of the country and the commitments it has taken on in its status as a candidate to be become a member of the European Union.

Spain, taking into account the election of Talat Xhaferi as Speaker of the Parliament by a majority of MPs, called for all the political forces to reach a peaceful solution to their differences and to form a government that facilitates a way out of the serious political crisis ravaging the country and to launch the necessary reforms that allow progress to be made on its Euro-Atlantic perspective.
