Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al-Thani met Sunday with Iran’s Foreign Minister.

According to media reports, talks dealt with relations between the two countries, in addition to matters of mutual concern.

QNA reported that responding to a reporter’s question about US accusations against Iran, Al-Thani acknowledged the issue was discussed, noting that “he has listened to the Iranian Foreign Minister as he has heard from the other side.”

“We are waiting for evidences,” Al-Thani, was quoted by QNA as saying, adding that the Qatari PM invited the two sides to sit down and negotiate to resolve this issue.

The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are big states whose relations should be good and in favour of us, the “small states”, Al-Thani said, according to QNA, adding that Al-Thani said as a part of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), “we are concerned over security and stability in Saudi Arabia,” he said, expressing hope that this matter would not be true.
