Egypt: SCAF Reacts Angrily To Criticisms Over Port Said Riots

By

Egypt’s Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) on Thursday expressed dismay over the mounting criticisms in the wake of the bloody incidents at, and in the vicinity of, Port Said Stadium after a football match between Al-Ahly and Al-Masry last night.

“Some people with wild imagination thought the chaotic conspiracy, including the robberies and unrest nationwide, aims to reinstate the emergency law recently scrapped by the (ruling) military institution,” said a statement posted on SCAF’s Facebook page.

“The military institution patiently shoulders an unbearable burdens and exercises the maximum degree of self-restraint in handling the youth protests. The revolutionaries miss no chance to slander the military and police personnel,” the statement titled “Fear God for Egypt,” said citing the anti-military obscene acts by the so-called revolutionaries on several occasions.
