Iranian Military Advisor Killed In Israeli Strike In Syria
An Iranian military advisor of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) was killed in an Israeli attack in Syria’s Baniyas.
The Iranian advisor, Colonel Reza Zare’e, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Syria’s western port city of Baniyas.
Citing eyewitnesses, the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights reported that three large explosions occurred in close succession in Baniyas shortly before dawn on Friday morning.
RFE/RL is reporting that, the IRGC has not commented on the reported death of one of its commanders. Iran refers to its troops in Syria as “military advisers.”
“At least 11 members of the IRGC, including an Afghan fighter with the Fatemiyun Brigade, have been killed in suspected Israeli strikes in Syria and Lebanon since the outbreak of war in the Gaza Strip in October,” RFE/RL noted.
