Mubarak and his sons have been referred to the North Cairo court and the hearing will be chaired by Judge Ahmed Rifat, the source said.

Fugitive businessman Hussein Salem, a close associate of Mubarak, is to face trial in absentia on the same date for the same charges, the source said.

A judicial source said that Mubarak’s trial would take place in the Criminal Court of Sharm el-Sheikh. He pointed out that if the ousted president is unable to attend the trial due to his health condition, it will be held in the Sharm El-Sheikh hospital.
