Iran Warns US Over Aircraft Carrier

The commander of the Iranian army, General Atallah Salehi on Tuesday warned the United States not to order the return to the Gulf area of an aircraft carrier. Quoted by the official news agency of Iran, IRNA.

Gen. Salehi said in a statement Tuesday, “We advise the U.S. aircraft carrier, which crossed the Strait of Hormuz and in the Sea of Oman not to return to the Gulf the Persian,” adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran does not intend to repeat this warning.

The warning comes a day after the end of a 10 day drill by the Iranian navy in the Sea of Oman. The drill includd the test-firing of three rockets.

Rear Admiral Mahmoud Mousavi, Deputy Navy Commander, told IRNA that the exercises were “valuable experience that displayed Iran’s strength in the international waters.” During the war games, the naval forces targeted the hypothetical enemies and destroyed them successfully, he added.
