Syria: Son Of Grand Mufti Killed

By

Saria Hassoun, a son of Syria’s Grand Mufti, Shiekh Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun, and Professor of History at Aleppo University Dr. Mohammad al-Omar, have been shot dead near Ibla University on the Idleb-Aleppo highway in the country’s northwest, the BBC reports, citing Syria’s official news agency SANA.

Hassoun was shot outside the university while he was talking to the professor, who was also killed in the ambush.

The Mufti is a close friend of President Bashar al-Assad and has repeatedly gone on record saying that the current riots in the country are the result of a foreign plot to bring about a regime change in the country.
