US General Fired Over Comments About Afghanistan
By VOA
The U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan has fired a senior officer for making public comments critical of Afghan President Hamid Karzai and his government.
General John Allen issued a statement Friday saying that Major General Peter Fuller has been relieved of his duties as deputy commander for the Afghan training mission.
In a recent interview with the U.S.-based website Politico, Fuller said the Afghan government was “erratic” and ungrateful for sacrifices the U.S. was making in Afghanistan.
Allen said the inappropriate comments do not represent the U.S. relationship with the Afghan government.
