Groups Demand Government To Defend Macedonia’s Interests

By

Even more disturbing than every Macedonian government’s continued participation in the nonsensical name negotiations is the recent letter by Foreign Minister Antonio Miloshoski to the United Nations Secretary-General that states, In the course of those negotiations, the Republic of Macedonia accepted a number of proposals put forward by Mr. Nimetz as a basis for a solution, including the proposal of March 2008 of “Republic of Macedonia (Skopje)”, which the Hellenic Republic regrettably rejected.”

If any Macedonian government is willing to change Macedonia’s name, they would go down in history as traitors to the Macedonian people.

The leader of SDSM, Branko Crvenkovski, is headed down this path as he repeatedly calls on Macedonia to change its name to enter the EU and NATO, and uses the pro-SDSM media to instil fear among the public and threaten Macedonia’s collapse without membership. Ironically, Crvenkovski criticizes VMRO-DPMNE for its handling of the “name dispute”, yet he was the President of Macedonia when the Nimetz proposals were accepted. He was Prime Minister when the ruling SDSM accepted the ludicrous acronym “FYROM” and had the audacity to change Macedonia’s flag.  Branko Crvenkovski and the SDSM are in no position to criticize anybody based on Macedonia’s national interests.

If the recent letter to the UN is a ploy to appease Western pressure on Macedonia to find a “solution”, it is backfiring. By participating in the name negotiations, Macedonia is legitimizing Greece’s ridiculous claims and is indicating that it will change its name.

Greece is using the standard “offence is the best defence” tactic. Macedonia should be employing the same strategy, especially because of one distinct advantage; the truth.

Macedonia should make it clear to the world that Greece, ironically, now claims that “Macedonia is Greek”, but it was not until 1988, when Greece realized that independence for the Republic of Macedonia was imminent, that it renamed “Northern Greece” to “Macedonia.” Prior to 1988, Greece’s policy was that Macedonia did not exist.

Macedonia must expose the reason for Greece’s initiation of the ridiculous name dispute – to deny the existence and persecution of its large Macedonian minority. Former Greek Prime Minister Constantine Mitsotakis admitted as such in 1995.

Instead of vehemently defending Macedonia’s name and identity, the Macedonian government, in the letter to the UN, apologetically explains the building of Macedonian historical statues in the context of the 1995 Interim Accord. How many other countries would need permission to celebrate their history?

In response to Greece claiming a violation by the Republic of Macedonia “…of article 7 of the Interim Accord in the form of ‘a series of relief representations of prominent Greek historical figures of Ancient Macedonia, such as the Vergina sun … on the basis [sic] of the lion statues at the ‘Goce Delcev’ road bridge in Skopje'”, the government even “proudly” states”…that the symbol formerly displayed on the Republic of Macedonia’s national flag…had been removed from the statues on the bridge in question.”

There was no entity known as Greece during the time of Ancient Macedonia. Greece was created by the powers of Europe in the 1830s, yet it has the temerity to dictate present-day politics based on arbitrary interpretations of ancient history.

According to former US Secretary of State, Lawrence Eagleburger, “Greece claims that Macedon or Macedonia, as well as Alexander of Macedonia are its own. This is a false claim and it is time someone confirms this.” He added, “The Greek claim about Macedonia is based on historically incorrect information and are therefore not fact-based.”

Macedonia must point out Greece’s twisting of ancient history in an attempt to deflect attention away from the current situation. 131 countries have recognized Macedonia, including four of the five permanent UN Security Council members. As stated in the Our Name is Macedonia campaign, “We are winning. We have the power to end this. Stop negotiating our own name”.

Macedonian Human Rights Movement International (MHRMI) and the Australian Macedonian Human Rights Committee (AMHRC) initiated the Our Name is Macedonia campaign in July 2010, which demands that Macedonia end all negotiations with Greece over its name. The campaign includes billboards throughout Macedonia, ads in print and online editions of major newspapers, television commercials, press conferences, radio interviews and the distribution of hundreds of thousands of flyers throughout the country.

  • Our organizations have consistently denounced the name negotiations and condemned SDSM for agreeing to the “temporary reference” of “FYROM” and subsequently changing the flag.
  • We condemn SDSM and their media for scare-mongering and claiming that Macedonia must change its name to enter the EU and NATO, or risk collapse.
  • We demand that VMRO fulfill its promise that it will never change Macedonia’s name by immediately ending the name negotiations.
  • Furthermore, we demand that Macedonia revert to the original flag and immediately end the acceptance of “FYROM” or “Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”.
  • Finally, MHRMI and AMHRC call on every Macedonian organization and individual to sign on to the Our Name is Macedonia campaign.

370 scholars from the finest universities and museums of the world were compelled to come together in a historically unprecedented way to conclude that the Macedonia were Greek. The effort was led by Professor Miller of Berkley.

The misinformation had gotten to such ridiculous point, international academia responded – in a big way.

    see for yourself:

    www. macedonia-evidence.org

. . the problem of misinformation continues with idiots like the author of the article and other morons for Skopjie.

. .they don’t fool anyone that matters. . .maybe a few old people in Skopje.

After all these years, 19 in all, there is an entire generation of young people brainwashed by there government into believing fantasies as fact, lies as truth.
Imagine a young person, an adult which is 20 years old that has been brought up in this region of FYROM. He knows nothing about the truth, his world and everything he knows about it has been filtered by the likes of Mr. Gruevski. This has been a straightforward task for those implementing it, if one stops to think how the situation has evolved in this newly formed country. Most likely the same people administering communist propaganda under Yugoslav rule were on to a new task “persuade our people that they are Macedonians true descendants of Alexander the Great” Masters of the art of brainwashing they had in there hands the same people that were for decades being fed lies about the western world. Now it was something different. Persuade them that they are Macedonians. Yes it is true that many countries in the world have recognized this area under the name of Macedonia but this was done by governments who had there own political agenda. Take for example the US. Under the Bush administration, FYROM was recognized as Macedonia. If however you visit the Metropolitan museum of New York today you will see in those exhibits that ancient Macedonia had nothing to do with this area of FYROM, that the boundaries of Macedonia to the north were about 10 to 15 miles north of what is today Greece. Can the short sighted decision of a man like Bush change history. No it cannot. Nor can the government of the US force institutions such as the MMA to change history so that it fits there agenda. What is the end product of all this. The end product is a lot of suffering and hate for young people in a newly formed country. Young people who will continue to see things not as they are but as they think they are. They will not easily wake up to the truth and for this I am truly sorry for them.

More ridiculous claims by the FYROM Slavs. Those Bulgarians who now call themselves the ‘real Macedonians’ have had decades to prove claims of their alleged ancient Macedonian ‘ancestry’. Fortunately for us sane minded people they’ve managed to prove nothing of the sort.

How a group of Slavs that have no linguistic or cultural link to Alexander and ancient Macedonians and didn’t even have an alphabet of their own until they were given one by Greek monks almost a thousand years after Alexander died can tell the world with a straight face that they are the true heirs of the ancient Macedonians is beyond all rational thought.

Since they’ve obviously given up trying to prove the unprovable they instead concentrate on challenging Greek ancestry and history with the twisted logic that ‘if the Greeks aren’t the real Macedonians then it must be us’. A simple way out without having to prove a damn thing. Either that or their constant whining about their human rights to call themselvs what they want.

All in all a contempteous example of fake nationalism and shows nothing but contempt for their real Bulgarian ancestry. No doubt many of these self-proclaimed ‘Macedonians’ and their families still hold Bulgarian passports, have Bulgarian names and have relatives living in Bulgaria.

    You people should be ashamed.

In response to comments by greeks (hellenized Albanians):

You all talk about shame – but when i comes to shame of greece you all fail to see what “greece” has done.

Greece should be ashamed for how it acquired Macedonian lands in the first place. it illegally (with bulgaria, serbian and albanian) tore Macedonia apart and invaded the land in 1913.

What’s more shame is the genocide this so called “cradle of democracy” has committed towards the Native Macedonian population in greek occupied Macedonia. it punished people for speaking their mother language (they did not know the modern albano-koine language the greeks speak).

Let me bring up the disgraceful greek arch bishop Karavangelis who got appointed to Kostur (fake name Kastoria)ordered the greeks to gather all the pregnant Macedonian women from the villiage of Zagoricheni and to cut out their unborn babies. Witnesses reported finding bodies of pregnant women with their abdomens cut open. The survivors who escaped the atrocity refused to bury the dead bodies of their neighbours. For days the dead were guarded until the European consuls in Bitola came to witness the atrocities for themselves. After this was found out this coward ran, fled to Sveta Gora (Holy Mountain MT Athos) where he spent two years in hiding before fleeing to Austria. Today, there is a statue of Karavangelis in Kostur to commemorate his great contributions to Hellenism. is this monkey country for real?
i dont know about any but this is really shameful – for this brought tears to my eyes, reading about this disgusting event. all in the name of hellenism

If Macedonia was always Greek, why would the Greek government have to change the Macedonian names of people, towns, and villages to Greek?

Dont even start me on what happend under the Metaxes dictatorship!

there is no shame in protecting your own name and heritage – greeks take a look at yourself first before telling us to be ashamed!

    Shame on you greeks!

The following statement is one BIG FAT MAKEDONKEYING LIE.

“Macedonia should make it clear to the world that Greece, ironically, now claims that “Macedonia is Greek”, but it was not until 1988, when Greece realized that independence for the Republic of Macedonia was imminent, that it renamed “Northern Greece” to “Macedonia.” Prior to 1988, Greece’s policy was that Macedonia did not exist.”

The Greek Province MACEDONIA existed prior to 1988, in 1988 and exists to this day. In 1988 Greece renamed the Government Ministry from Ministry of Northern Greece to Ministry of Macedonia and Thraki.

The sad and possibly illegal part is that the 2 organizations who put this stuff out know this.

No it, didnt! until 1988 it was called northern greece, and prior to that it was called the New territories.

there are greek geography text books publishied in 1977 that clearly shows this. you can see the maps here clearly show MAKEDONIA and ELLADA as two separate countries, and:

The Map you point to is correct.
The southern part of FYROM was a Historical Part of Ancient Macedonia. If you notice the name is in Greek – MAKEDONIA –

However that is not the question RM. You state that Greece did not use Macedonia prior to 1988.

Here is a Map from 1951 in National Geographic clearly stating Macedonia as Greek(Hellenic).

Then why is there a problem now? i have qoutes from Macedonians in 1800s quoting they are not bulgarians, serbs, nor greeks, that they are descendants from Alexander the great – one such person was georgija Pulevski 1817 – 1895 (yes pulevski not pulev), please note that he live before the occupation Macedonia by the greeks, serbs, bulgars and albanians:

“Я не сам ни болгарин,ни сърбин,ниту грк,ами я сам просто Македонец какви су били Вилип и Александаръ и Аризтотел Вилозовъ…” – Ѓорѓија Пулевски
“i am neither a bulgar, serb nor greek, but i am simply Macedonian like Philip and Alexander and aristotle”

This is what he wrote in his book “A dictionary of 3 languages” published in 1875. i even have a copy of this book:
“What do we call a nation? – People who are of the same origin and who speak the same words and who live and make friends of each other, who have the same customs and songs and entertainment are what we call a nation, and the place where that people lives is called the people’s country. Thus the Macedonians also are a nation and the place which is theirs is called Macedonia.”

i even have quote from a bulgarian stating that the the people in Macedonian regarded themselvs as decendants of the Ancient Macedonians and not bulgarian:

“Многу пати сме слушнале од Македонистите дека не биле Бугари, но Македонци, потомци на древните Македонци.”
            Петко Славејков ( јануари, 1871 )

“We have many times heard from the Macedonists that they are not Bulgarians but Macedonians, descendants of the Ancient Macedonians”
            Petko Slavejkov ( january, 1871)

and about the scholars you actually mean scholars under the greek government payroll.

Also Greece did not have a problem with Yugoslavia and a province called Macedonia because Ancient Macedonia included part of Yugoslavia. The problem stared when your country is openly attempting to appropriate a large part of Greek History, and the the hilarious part is they deny it. 370 scholars at macedonia-evidence.org testify to these facts.

Do you refute the evidence by the 370 and counting scholars?

This is an extract of the article ‘Of Turks & Greeks’ By “Nikos Raptis” a Greek who grew up in Greece.

“The last name “Karamanlis” (uncle) of the Prime Minister chosen by the US, in the early 50s to “administer” Greece for the US, is Turkish! “Kara” means black in Turkish. Therefore, Karamanlis means: the “Black Ali”. [By the way,the younger Karamanlis, the Amherst educated nephew, Prime Minister of Greece for the last six years, who is thought to be responsible for the corruption and the economic woes of Greece, has not been heard for the last 8 months. They tell us he is “hiding”].

A brief search in the phone directory of Athens revealed the following:

    – There are about 43,000 entries of Greeks with last names beginning with the Turkish prefix “kara”.

    – There are about 20,000 entries of Greeks with last names beginning with the Muslim prefix “hadji” . Of course these Greeks are fervent Christians!

    – There is an unknown (but vast) number of entries of Greeks with last names ending with the Turkish suffix “oglou”, which is the ending of a great percentage of the Turkish last names.

The population of Athens is around 4 million people, about half of the total population of Greece. That is one in 40 Greeks has a Turkish last name!

Compare that to my last name, “Raptis”, which means “tailor” in Greek. My ancestors were real tailors. There are only about 2,000 entries. That is one in 2,000 Athenians has this name! ”

So as a Professor myself at a University I am astounded by the claims Greeks make about their purity when we all see what a lethal dose of mixture they come from.

      macedonia-evidence.org (bias Source)

You say john to read “macedonia-evidence.org”, the whole site is written and made from Greek people, who even on their website “macedonia-evidence.org” have pro-political views (eg. letter to president).

As I have studied History, I can clearly say that they have not gone about this in a non-bias way and have been subjective in all matters. That being said you cant claim it as being a viable source, and source work means being objective and not subjective, you should next time tell people that “macedonia-evidence.org” is bias source and they should take that into account.

Also I have heard stories about the genocide and stolen generation in the aegean area, can any greek explain that? also in the old maps found before 1913 that area of the aegean was not in greek hands, can any greek explain that to? Im confused on those 2 matters.

also “existence and persecution of its large Macedonian minority.” Former Greek Prime Minister Constantine Mitsotakis admitted as such in 1995. so greece is responsible for persecution of Macedonians in Greece?

Quite frankly it is my understanding that this name dispute infringes on Macedonia’s self determination and that should not be on. I think the reason why greece is scared about Macedonia’s name dispute is since they know they can easily lose the aegean part since it very belonged to them in the first place
READ THE Budapest accord 1913, Aegean never belonged to greece and has to be given back. 2013 is the expiry date of that treaty

Here are some quotes from a book published in 1830. I have a question for you hellenized albanians – what makes you greek? you do not speak greek but albano-koine!:

“The Hellenic race in Europe is completely exterminated”

“For not a single drop of real pure Hellenic blood flows in the veins for the Christian population of Modern Greece”

“A population with Slavonic facial features and with bow-shaped eyelashes and sharp features of Albanian mountain shepherds, of course, did not com from the blood of Narcissus, Alcibiades, and Antinous; and only a romantic eager imagination can still dream of a reviaval in our days of the ancient Hellenes with their Sophocleses and Platos”

    -Jakob Philipp Fallmerayer
Geschichte der Halbinsel Morea während des Mittelalters 1830

i’ll leave you with a quote from a Macedonian who lives in greek occupied Macedonia. He says “Vo grcija ima sve, samo nema grci” – “In greece we have everything, but we do not have greeks”

“…based upon the words of Phillip of Bergamo, we must admit that the Macedonians from all times, up until nowadays have got a Slavic language.”

“So, the maternal language of the Macedonians, which differs from the one we think was the general language of the whole army of Alexander, clearly shows that the Macedonians do not belong to the Greeks”
