Syria: More Than 10 Kg Of Explosive Used In Damascus Blast


Preliminary estimates indicate that explosive materials used in Al-Maidan area bomb attack, which occurred earlier today, weighed more than 10 kilograms of highly explosive substances, the Syrian Interior Ministry said Friday.

The ministry said a special unit from the Interior ministry headed to the bombing site and was able to examine the site and explosive residues, including the dead bodies, adding test sample were sent to the Interior’s criminal laboratories to identify the terrorist and the type of explosive material used in the attack.

The statement noted that investigation units from the ministry already began their investigation and search for other culprits of this terrorist attack which caused havoc to Syrian citizens.

The statement added that the ministry “will hit back with an Iron fist to all those who attempt to destabilize the country and bring insecurity to citizens.”

Earlier, Syria announced that the death toll of the suicide bomber incident that took place earlier Friday has risen to 26 while the injured toll stands at 63.
