Gaza Government Says Qatar Fuel Held On Egypt Border

By

Truckloads of Qatari fuel arrived in El-Arish, Egypt on Tuesday and are being prepared to enter the Gaza Strip on Wednesday via a small goods crossing in the south, officials said.

Some 153,000 liters of fuel will be allowed into Gaza on Wednesday, sources involved in the transfer told Ma’an.

Officials in the Hamas-run power authority say the fuel is being delayed at the border even though it was supposed to arrive Sunday. They suspected that the delays were related to the siege.

Israel agreed last month to allow the shipment to enter through its territory, Agence France-Presse reported Sunday. Egypt, however, has not authorized the shipment, according to officials in Gaza.
