Amy Winehouse Posthumous Albums Planned

Following the recently-released duet song with rapper Nas, fans of Amy Winehouse can expect to listen to more music from the late singer. Mitch Winehouse, who released a memoir on June 28 entitled “Amy, My Daughter”, says that there could be one or two more posthumous albums from his daughter, who died on July 23, 2011, AceShowbiz said.

“I’m not sure that there is much more but I’m sure that we will get at least one other album out, if not two,” Mitch says during an interview with BBC 6 Music. “There are loads of covers, loads of them, but the problem is we don’t want to rip anybody off. When her fans are so precious to us we don’t want to put out dross.”

Amy’s first posthumous release “Lioness: Hidden Treasures” came out in December 2011 and was well received by fans. The album debuted at No. 5 on Billboard 200 by selling 144,000 copies, marking her highest debut album in the United States. “Lioness” features unreleased songs, including her duet with Tony Bennett, “Body and Soul”, which is also included in the 85-year-old singer album’s “Tony Bennett: Duets II”.

As of late, her collaboration with Nas, “Cherry Wine”, surfaced online. Produced by Salaam Remi, the track will be featured on the hip-hop star’s new LP “Life is Good”, which is set to be released on July 17. “We don’t even have an explanation for how it happened. It was just magic. It just happened. It was supposed to happen. She made it happen,” so the “Nasty” rapper said of their duet.

Another artist, Pete Doherty, revealed in May this year that he would use lyrics penned by Winehouse on his next solo album. The set will be his second solo effort, after his first record “Grace/Wastelands” came out in 2009.
