Romania: President Faced With Impeachment Referendum
By VOR
The Romanian Parliament has voted to call a referendum on whether President Traian Basescu should be impeached for violating the constitution while trying to cope with the crisis.
The referendum should take place within 30 days. Pending the outcome, Basescu’s shoes will be filled by Senate Spokesman Crin Antonescu.
In 2007, President Basescu survived an impeachment referendum.
