Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani has left Tehran for Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital to attend a session of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD).

“The 21st century belongs to Asia. The Asian neighbors are important for the Islamic Republic in terms of culture, science, technology and economy,” IRNA news agency quoted Rouhani as saying before leaving Tehran.

Rouhani added that he will also pay a visit to Malaysia on the second leg of his Asian tour.

As part of the Asian tour the president is slated to hold talks with Thai officials, as well.

An economic delegation will accompany President Rouhani during the visit.

Several documents on cooperation between Iran and Asian states are expected to be signed during the visit.
