Ashton on the border clashes between Cambodia and Thailand

The spokesperson of Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the Commission, issued the following statement today.

“The High Representative is deeply concerned about the armed clashes between Cambodia and Thailand around their common border area between 4 and 6 February 2011″, Ashton said in a statement.

The statement continued: “The High Representative calls on both countries to exercise utmost restraint, take the necessary steps to reduce tension and to resume their dialogue in order to resolve their differences peacefully.”
