Cindy Sheehan: The Irrelevance Of Left(ish) Anti-War Voices – OpEd

By

One of my biggest frustrations since 2007 (when I left the Democrat half of the War Party for good), is that movements, especially the so-called antiwar movement support Democrat politicians. Besides being the very definition of insanity, in my opinion, when the War Party politicians order bombings (POTUS), pay for bombings (Congress), or are silent about, or justify the murder (the media), these same people  have very little credibility they are all of a sudden  “outraged” when the bombing inevitably happens.

I have long called these voices of loose credibility “The Peace Industrial Complex” because as soon as those bombings do happen, they send out pearl-clutching emails about how we need to hold the politician accountable, and to do that, please SEND US MONEY. My position may be a bit cynical, but I have seen the pattern repeated over and over.

For example, there is a color-coordinated “antiwar” group whose founders/leaders routinely advocate for voting for Democrats which is their right. However, I think to call oneself “antiwar” and a “Democrat” is the very definition of oxymoronic. Yes, even Joe Biden who has been a HUGE advocate of Imperialism for almost five-decades in the Federal Government was no exception. The day after Bombing-Biden attacked Syria, this so-called antiwar group sent out an email with the subject line “Outrageous” which begins:

When Biden promised a “return to normal”, did he mean normal atrocious U.S. military actions in the Middle East? Because yesterday, out of nowhere, the U.S. bombed the sovereign country of Syria. The militia bombed in Syria posed absolutely no threat to the United States and is actually involved in fighting ISIS.

Most of the leading members of this antiwar group have been activists for decades and my perception is that their outrage is a show for the cameras because a “return to normal” just means a whole lot of violence and oppression that the U.S. was founded upon and continues to this day.

Anyone who is not operating in self-delusion mode on a massive scale could predict that Joe Biden would continue the Clinton-Bush-Obama trajectory of terrible foreign policy, but also the centuries long bloody-trail of this Death Cult.   “Normal” for the Death Cult, of course, IS war and slaughter on a massive scale.

“Helpfully” they included a letter which we could all sign which encourages the nominal leader of Death Cult, USA, Joe Biden to “stop the wars.” So, what will they do when he doesn’t, because he ain’t gonna? Are they going to vote for him a little less vigorously in 2024?

If we truly want to end U.S. Imperialism once and for all, we cannot support in anyway any member of the Twin Parties of War and Evil. Of course, as individuals we have every right to vote for/support any candidate or political party we wish, but organizationally, our energy needs to go outside the duopoly.

After all these years, I feel like an empty gong clanging to deaf ears, but isn’t it time to try something new if we do care about international solidarity and peace and equality within our borders?

My two cents, for whatever its worth.

Cindy Sheehan

Cindy Sheehan is an American anti-war activist whose son, Specialist Casey Sheehan, was killed during his service in the Iraq War by the Mehdi Army on April 4, 2004. She attracted national and international media attention in August 2005 for her extended anti-war protest at a makeshift camp outside President George W. Bush's Texas ranch — a stand which drew both passionate support and angry criticism. More of her writings can be found at Cindy Sheehan's Soapbox: Writing from the Emprire.

It’s always anti-war against America. Do she and others protest the Taliban, Russia, Iranians not that I have seen? There are bad people out there and she seems to allow them to kill others without any consequences.

Oooh yeah. Your recipe for opposing imperialism and war of aggression is to protest whoever stands against aggression.
Of course “It’s always anti-war against America”. The single most horrible criminal against humanity, worldwide is us. Enjoy.

Bereavement is no guarantee of wisdom, Cindy. You are nothing but a sanctimonious narcissist who used your sons death in vain. Your abhorrent behavior detracted from your message which got lost in your obnoxiousness. Thankfully you have finally went away. No one was listening to you anyways.

Cindy has always been on target in her analysis of the politics of war. The Democrats have shown us over and over who they are–why are “liberals” still fooled? Thanks for your two cents, Cindy. Always a breath of fresh air–and truth.

Dear Cindy, I don’t know how to address you. I prefer to remain anonymous at this time because of all the posts made under this pseudonym. The history goes back to the 1990’s.

I was a supporter of the Neocons until I realized I was duped, lied to and gullible. I owe you a huge apology. I was wrong and you correct.

I’m ashamed of my former self and am doing all I can to redeem myself.

    Please forgive me.

She is fine with imperialism and violence as long as it’s not the US doing it. That’s not the actions of a genuine peace activist. But a bought and paid for puppet.

Cindy is right. Has integrity and she made a sincere and powerful effort to share what she learned about how and why her son was sacrificed. It’s deep, it’s overwhelming, it’s core human heart and anguish. Those who criticize don’t know and have not opened their minds and hearts nor have the courage to find a path forward, that is clear. So, focus on self-reflection, go to your heart, see if you can pass through that darkness. It’s what women around the world do every day. What a burden mongers of violence unjustly dump on people each day.

I’m very sorry for her loss. Because of men like her son, she has the freedom to express her views. And for that, I’m grateful. It’s why I served, too. But the reality is she is terribly ignorant of–and offers simplistic explanations for how–the US and the world works. She’s the poster child for what the Soviets called “useful idiots.” The Kremlin still calls them such. They meant far-left “peace” activists in the West who pressure their governments to pursue policies that weaken their own defenses and strengthen the positions of their enemies, like the Soviet Union. Many of these activists are well-meaning; many actually are not. Most are naive. None of these useful idiots would ever describe themselves as pro-Moscow, pro-Beijing, pro-Iran, pro-Taliban or pro-ISIS. But if not intentionally, in effect, they certainly are.
