A gunman killed three people and injured six after opening fire in a Caron City, Nevada restaurant, police said Tuesday.
The Carson City Sheriff’s office confirmed the gunman armed with an automatic rifle opened fire on and inside an International House of Pancakes (IHOP) restaurant Tuesday, leaving at least three dead including himself, in what officials described as a methodical attack.
The gunman was seen pulling up to the restaurant in a minivan and open fire outside the restaurant then reloaded his weapon and enter the IHOP. He also fired on another restaurant and an office building nearby.
Some of the victims “appeared to be military folks,” the sheriff’s office said. The Nevada highway patrol said it could confirm two dead in uniform.
A number of National Guard soldiers in uniform were having breakfast in the IHOP and several have been among those wounded.
