Pakistan: bomb blast kill over 12, injure 10 others

Over 12 militants and civilians were killed and more than 10 others were wounded in two separate incidents; a military operation against militants in a tribal agency and a bomb explosion in a northern town, said officials.

A remote-controlled roadside bomb blew up a vehicle in Jani Khel area of Dera Ismail Khan District in northern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, police sources told KUNA. They said the explosion killed two people and wounded four others.

Some local media said that the target was an army vehicle and that those killed included a Captain, and security personnel were also among the wounded.

Meanwhile in a separate incident, security forces killed more than ten militants in an operation in Upper Orakzai tribal agency.

Security officials said that military helicopters pounded suspected militant hideouts in several areas of the agency and killed ten militants. More than six others were also wounded, added the officials.
