Syria: At Least 12 Killed In Homs

News reports on Sunday said that 12 people were killed in the city of Homs following the entry of the Syrian army to neighborhoods where protests have been held in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, Syrian state television announced that “armed terrorists” attacked early Sunday a bus carrying 17 Syrian civilians from Lebanon towards the Syrian cities of Hama and Idlib, killing 11 people and wounding 4 others.

The Syrian media reported that a number of gunmen on motorcycles approached the bus from several directions near the city of Homs, and shot the passengers, killing 11 and wounding 4 others wounded. The report added that a unit of the Syrian army transferred the injured to Homs National Hospital.

Syrian authorities also announced Sunday the death of a policeman who was shot dead by a “terrorist” group.

They also accused armed elements of attacking a building in Hama.

Locals said they heard the sound of heavy firing in the city of Homs, last night.

The tanks of the Syrian army had entered the city of Homs and its suburbs on Friday.

The eyewitnesses said that the Syrian army deployed in a number of districts of Homs, and after that cut off all cellular and land communications, and cut power to several neighborhoods in the city.
