Ex-Syrian VP Expects “Gaddafi End” To Assad
The former Syrian vice president Abdel Halim Khaddam has urged the international community to intervene militarily in Syria in order to stop the “massacres” committed by “war machine” of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
Khaddam added during a press conference held in Paris that “the Syrian people will not stand idly by in front of the violence.” He stressed that “violence will force the Syrians to take up arms to defend themselves.”
However, he stressed he didn’t call to take up arms but for military intervention by the international community similar to what happened in Libya.
Khaddam conveyed that “the events taking place in Syria hit the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad with insanity.” He thus expected Assad the same fate of Muammar Gaddafi. ”
Khaddam called on Arab states to “shoulder its responsibilities in helping the brothers in Syria,” stressing that “the United Nations and foreign governments now have to take actions to stop the Syrian war machine.” Khaddam also slammed Russia and China, who used their veto right in the Security Council to prevent the adoption of specific measures against the regime of Bashar al-Assad, after “bowing to the Iranian pressure.”
