Bahrain: Demonstration In Roudabout Is Illegitimate – Cleric

By

Cleric Shaikh Mohsen Al Asfoor criticized the practices of the “opposition” during the crisis that has been gripping Bahrain, claiming  that those who believe that “revolution” allows them to commit crimes, violate laws and offend others are totally wrong.

In a statement published in Al Ayam newspaper Friday, Al Asfoor said that the “occupation of the Roundabout” was illegitimate from a religious point of view as Islam forbid harming properties and lives, holding the so-called “opposition leaders” responsible for the innocent lives lost during those incidents, reports Bahrain state news agency BNA.

According to BNA, Al Asfoor also said that those who occupied that key Roundabout and suspended the economic, trade and traffic in the capital over more than one month and terrified innocent people have violated the ethics of Islam, adding that those who supported them have also committed a similar sin.

Shaikh Al Asfoor also indicated that any similar sit-in in Tehran would have been cracked within minutes, not weeks or months as the Bahraini government has done, reported BNA, adding that regarding the evacuation of the Roundabout by the security forces as shown on TV, Al Asfoor described it as “legitimate” action taken against perpetrators who have posed a threat to people’s lives and livelihoods.
