Afghanistan: Tons Of Hashish Confiscated In South

An Afghan National Security and International Security Assistance Forces discovered more than six tons of hashish in southern Afghanistan, April 20-May 8, during clearing operations.

The drugs were found during Operation Mountain Jaguar and have an approximate street value of 5 million dollars.

The drugs found are a combination of three large drug caches found in Zharay and Panjaw’i districts of Kandahar province.

Along with the drug caches, multiple weapons caches were discovered including 350 pounds (159 kilograms) of homemade explosives materials, 36 pressure plates, nine improvised explosive devices, multiple rifles and several explosive device making materials.

Operation Mountain Jaguar is ongoing and is focused on disrupting the insurgents’ supply and financing facilitation lines in the southern region of Afghanistan.
