Yemen: At Least Two Dead In Protests
Witnesses and medics said Monday that Yemeni security forces have opened fire on protesters in a southern city, killing two protesters.
Monday’s incident comes a day after demonstrators, joined by striking teachers, took over a main street in the city of Taez and set up tents. The government claimed the protesters were obstructing traffic and access to government offices.
The Yemeni security forces were using tear gas and live bullets. Dozens were wounded, including six people in critical condition.
Three Yemeni demonstrators were killed Sunday during clashes with security forces in Taez and Hudeida.
