Iran Denies Involvement In Ukraine War
Reiterating Iran’s opposition to war, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani emphasized that Iran has never been part of the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
In comments on Sunday, Kanaani said Iran has emphasized times and again that it opposes war and supports a political solution to settle the differences between Russia and Ukraine and end the military conflict.
He was reacting to media stories alleging that Iran has delivered ballistic missiles to Russia.
Since the beginning of the crisis in Ukraine, Iran has never been a part of the war and military conflict, Kanaani added, stressing Iran’s supportive stance on a political solution and bilateral talks to end the crisis and conflict.
Iran’s principled and declared approach to the crisis in Ukraine has not changed, he added, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.
The spokesman also dismissed the “politically-driven and completely baseless” allegations made by certain Western countries that Iran has delivered ballistic missiles to Russia.
“The conventional military cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation has a much older history than the start of the Ukrainian war,” he stated, adding, “The cooperation is within the framework of bilateral deals and based on international norms and laws and has nothing to do with the crisis in Ukraine.”
