Veteran striker Andriy Shevchenko scored twice to give Euro 2012 co-host Ukraine a dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Sweden in their first-ever appearance in the championships.

The former Chelsea and AC Milan striker, 35, hit the mark with two headers in seven second-half minutes, canceling out Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s short-range opener.

Sweden missed two golden chances late on to level it through substitute Christian Wilhelmsson and defender Olof Mellberg.

Ukraine go top in Group D after England and France played out a 1-1 draw in Donetsk.
