Ron Paul Says Our Unfairness To Palestinians Led To 9/11 Attacks – OpEd

The only presidential candidate to talk about human rights in Palestine is of course, Ron Paul, who said that it helped foster the 9/11 attacks, during last night’s Republican debate, picked up at NBC. (Thanks to antiwar.com):

“Most of the danger comes by our lack of wisdom on how we run our foreign policy,” and he repeated a statistic he uses on the campaign trail in Iowa: “We’re under great threat, because we occupy so many countries. We’re in 130 countries. We have 900 bases around the world. We’re going broke. The purpose of al Qaeda was to attack us, invite us over there, where they can target us. And they have been doing it.”

Paul went on to claim that al Qaeda has committed “more attacks against us and the American interests per month than occurred in all the years before 9/11” — because the U.S. is “occupying their land.” …

Paul didn’t retreat from his position. “This whole idea that the whole Muslim world is responsible for this, and they’re attacking us because we’re free and prosperous, that is just not true. Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda have been explicit… They wrote and said that we attacked America because you had bases on our holy land in Saudi Arabia, you do not give Palestinians fair treatment, and you have been bombing…”

At this point, Paul was interrupted by a chorus of boos. He tried to talk over them, pleading with the audience to understand his position.

“I didn’t say that. I’m trying to get you to understand what the motive was behind the bombing, at the same time we had been bombing and killing hundreds of thousands of Iraqis for 10 years. Would you be annoyed? If you’re not annoyed, then there’s some problem.”

Here’s a link to an ABC News interview with Osama Bin Laden from 1998.

    http://abcnews.go.com/2020/video/osama-bin-laden-interview-1998-13506629

The American news correspondent John Miller (Now an FBI Agent) interviews Bin Laden and gets him on tape.

It’s pretty straight forward. Bin Laden repeats over and over again that the USA is invading Muslim countries and must be punished. He cites many examples. Like it punished USSR when it invaded Afghanistan.

If the link is removed, just Google ABC news Osama Bin Laden 1998 interview.

This makes perfect sense to me. Unfortunately, many Americans cannot accept this truth, as they showed during the debate. I have more respect for Ron Paul than I can ever express. The man has done great things for this country. Even without ever winning the presidency, he has helped change the course of America. Thank you Ron Paul

My grandfather was in CIA, helped overthrow the democratically elected Arbenz regime in Guatemala (by means of propaganda), and if you actually consider all of the secret CIA actions from its inception, the US has been in perpetual war from the middle of the 20th century onwards.
Anyone claiming this to be a ‘conservative’ foreign policy needs to research the term.

I find it interesting that Paul is the ONLY anti-war candidate running. Did the anti-war left that so despised Bush forget all about that these past 3 years? Where is the outrage? You would think that the Perry/Romney puppets would have jumped on this bandwagon of public sentiment and growing distaste for these wars, but the “front runners” are at least keeping a low profile on this issue (vs. 2007/8 when staying in iraq for 100 years was something to be bragged about by the frontrunner). Now only Santorum is tone deaf enough to double down on the neo-con propaganda. I think Perry/Romney are proponents of this deep down, but would rather talk about ‘jobs’ because they know that public sentiment is not on their side anymore on this issue.
Because Paul is the only one taking this position, his campaign is a force to be reckoned with. I foresee Perry parroting some watered down version of Paul’s position on foreign policy in the upcoming months if he hopes to survive – probably some lip service to ‘drawing down the troops,’ or some vague hints in that direction (because we know that he goes with the direction of the wind).

Well duh, that’s what Al Qaeda has told us over and over and over again.

That none of the other candidates seemed to know that he’s absolutely correct on that point should eliminate them all from serious consideration for the presidency.

None of the apparently uninformed Tea Party morons who booed him should ever be let into a Republican event ever again. They’re embarrassingly stupid.
