Yemen Says Escaped Prisoners Not Al Qaeda Members

The security forces in Aden governorate have arrested three of the fifteen captives escaped on Monday from al-Mansourah prison, Interior Minister Abdul-Qader Qahtan said Tuesday, reports Yemen state media.

According to SABA, during the Tuesday  cabinet weekly meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basindwa, Qahtan “said the fifteen prisoners were arrested on criminal cases, stressing they were not members of al-Qaeda as reported by some media outlets.”

Qahtan, who was presenting a report on the security situation Yemen, stressed that pursuing the rest of the escaped prisoners was underway, SABA reported.
