This came after the Iranian threat to close it in response to any embargo on its oil sector by the European Union.

According to the report, the special forces would be deployed on board of the minesweepers and on the ground in the Arab Gulf countries in order to protect vessels.

A senior British security source revealed that a group of British communications experts deployed in the area to monitor Iranian military intelligence communications.
