Japan: IAEA Says Unable To Confirm Radiation Leak At Fukushima Nuclear Plant

The International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA decided to inform member states and the world on latest developments on safety status of nuclear facilities in quake-stricken Japan on a daily basis.

IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano issued a statement, on Tuesday, saying that IAEAs Incident and Emergency Centre (IEC) is working around the clock with Japanese experts to validate the safety in nuclear facilities.

Japan has asked the IAEA for assistance in nuclear safety, Amano informed the IAEA member states in a closed meeting.

He added the IAEA is unable to confirm radiation leak in Fukushima nuclear power plant.

The IAEA has dispatched specialized teams to Japan to help in maintaining safety of the nucleer facilities, Amano noted.

A number of member states delegates in an interview with KUNA said the main concern is the status of nuclear facilities and development.
