Before starting a tour of Tajikistan and Russia, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian voiced his administration’s resolve to deepen relations with neighbors.

Speaking to reporters in Tehran on Wednesday, Pezeshkian said the trips to Dushanbe and Moscow are made in accordance with the grand policies outlined by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and the purpose of promoting relations with neighbors.

“We naturally try to deepen our relations with our neighbors day by day,” he noted.

Announcing plans to enhance cooperation with Tajikistan in various fields such as agriculture, industry, trade and transportation, Pezeshkian said he will sign cooperation agreements with Tajikistan, with which Iran has close cultural bonds.

He added that a comprehensive document on strategic cooperation between Iran and Russia will be signed during the visit to Moscow, which entails economic, scientific, industrial, agricultural, security and cultural cooperation.

Unveiling plans for the conclusion of more agreements on strategic cooperation with the other neighboring states, including Iraq, Pezeshkian said, “We seek increased connections, exchange of experiences, and enhanced regional cooperation, the materialization of which will nullify the pressures that the US is imposing on regional countries.”
