Chechen Republic: Kadyrov Assassination Plot Thwarted


Two militants plotting the assassination of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov have been killed in Grozny. According to official reports the gunmen resisted arrest and were shot dead by police and security forces.

The separatist leader Doku Umarov had reportedly dispatched several of his men to Grozny with explicit orders to kill Kadyrov, including by means of suicide bombing.

The authorities are working to identify the dead terrorists.
